GEMSTONE LORE:

Agate - According to gemstone lore, its powers include strength, courage, longevity, gardening, love, healing and protection.   Is said to join heart and solar plexus into a harmonious vibration; healing on the stomach.  Agate energy balances other energies, creates a stable field.

Aquamarine - Has been promoted for psychism, peace, courage, purification.  Sea witches cleanse the stones in ocean water at night by the light of the full moon.  Enhances psychic powers.   Can be rubbed on the body for purification prior to magic acts.  Soothes and calms in emotional problems and relationships.  Sometimes worn to relieve the pain of toothache or to cure illness of stomach, jaw, throat.  Said to halt fear, strengthen courage and for an alert mind.

Amethyst - Said to be a potent stone for psychic serenity; helpful in healing, protection against thieves.  Thought to drive off insomnia and nightmares.  The "destressing" stone. Gemstone Lore says that Amethyst may help to overcome addictions, curb overindulgence and to bestow good judgment.  It is one of the few stones for men to wear to attract women.  It is used in spells to magnify beauty.

Bloodstone - Said to halt bleeding, used in healing, for victory and courage.  A good stone to carry during legal matters.  Worn to keep blood healthy and to cure blood-related illnesses.  Thought to increase physical strength in athletes.  Worn to lengthen life span.  Green bloodstone is utilized in money and business spells, and to attract wealth.  Said to prevent miscarriage and/or to ease childbirth.

Garnet - Worn for healing, protection and strength, to enhance endurance and vigor.  Said to strengthen the aura and create a shield of highly charged positive vibrations which repel negative energy.  Garnet is said to relieve skin conditions, especially inflammation, and to regulate the blood and heart.  Given between friends, it is said to magically ensure that they will meet again.

Goldstone - Blue stone containing Copper crystals.  Copper, linked with the the Divine, is used to direct magical energy, to stimulate healing, to balance the body's polarity and to reduce energy blockages.  General healing and sickness prevention.

Hematite - Worn for healing, grounding and divination.  Said to be powerful in drawing illness from the body.  Worn for focus and to stabilize attention on the physical plane.

Iolite - Called Dichroite - a grounding stone, calming.

Labradorite - Feldspar - a stone mined from the earth's "power" places.

Lapis Lazuli - Denim - Worn for healing, joy, fidelity, protection and courage. Stone is said to possess the powers of the DEITY.  Used in healing and soothing, to alleviate fears and for diseases of the blood.   Said to relieve depression - a good meditation stone.  Stimulates gentleness in the wearer.  Potent fidelity charm between lovers.  Protective for children.

Malachite -  Worn to detect impending danger.  For protective magic.  Guards against negativity and physical danger.  Worn against the skin, it expands the ability to love and to draw love to you.  Salesperson's stone.

Mahogany Obsidian - Lava - Grounding and centering stone.  Said to remind one that the path to the physical is the path to the spiritual.  Used in protective rituals, it is said to set up aggressive energies to guard during scrying.

Smoky Quartz - Said to be a soothing and destressing stone, related to love, wisdom, compassion, eloquence, growth, fertility, psychism, mysticism and spirituality. Is a mood elevator.  Said to overcome depression and negative emotions.

Unakite - A blend of Quartz, Green Epidote and Pink Feldspar, found in the Unaha Mountain Ranges of South Carolina.  The Iron in Unakite is said to protect the wearer against demons, ghosts, and negative spirits.  Mined from one of the earth's "power" places.
